Following years of concepts and rumours, Lamborghini finally introduces the Urus, which will go head to head with Bentley Bentayga for the ultimate luxury/super sports utility vehicle.
The exterior is a mix of aggressive sharp angles and ‘Y-shaped’ cues that are synonymous to Lamborghini’s current design language. Its width and length make up for what it lacks in height, presumably for stability and aesthetic purposes.
A 4.0L bi-turbo V8 engine, which outputs 650HP and 850Nm of torque, serves as Lamborghini Urus’ beating heart, making it the best power-to-weight ratio on the SUV segment to date. This is paired with an 8-speed automatic transmission and power is distributed on all four-wheels via limited-slip differential & asymmetric/dynamic torque distribution. The result of this combination gives the Urus an acceleration of 0-100 (0-62mph) in 3.6 seconds and tops at 305 km/h.
Great speed demands great stopping power and the Urus isn’t short of that either. Thanks to four carbon-ceramic disc brakes coupled with 10 pot front and 6 pot rear calipers, braking from 100 to naught (62-0 mph) is dealt in less than 34 metres.
The Lamborghini Urus also enjoys an array of features such as ADAS (Advanced Driver Assistance System), ANIMA (driving modes seen on recent Lamborghini models plus off-road), and Lamborghini’s Infotainment System matched with Bang & Olufsen speakers to offer rich surround sound experience. Interior is peppered with premium leather and carbon-fibre but can be configured to your liking. Other optional extras include Head-up Display, Night Vision, Hands-free Tailgate, and Washing package.
Will Ferrari follow suit?
