Ford Mustang GT500 Eleanor

There are only three American classic cars that hit the spot for me; the Ford GT40 that won the LeMans’ four times in a row, the Shelby Cobra 427 with British chassis mated with an American V8 motor and the First Generation Ford Mustang GT.

The nostalgic and unmistakable rumbling of the carburetted V8 engine, the car established itself as an icon when it was raced by Steve McQueen against the 1968 Dodge Charger R/T in the 1968 film Bullitt.

Another film that took the car to stardom was Gone in Sixty Seconds (2000) wherein Nicholas Cage calls it Eleanor; his unicorn.
